Diamond Geezer

Reasons why i'm unhappy this week:

1)I've been suffering from a really bad flare up of a rib condition i have. I have it all the time and so don't pay it much mind but this week it has become insufferable. The past 2 nights i have been walking the boards despite downing sleeping tablets. Hilariously enough because it affects my entire rib cage from front around to spine, between my shoulders, sternum & collarbone, laying down is unbearable and becomes more insufferable the longer i lay down for. Sleeping is not an option. Sitting on the sofa barely able to keep my eyes open so exhausted i am whilst weeping silently is.

But now i'm happy because:

1)I just spoke to my doctor over the phone who verily amused me by telling me i had to have a smear and stop smoking whilst sorting out my anti-inflammatory prescription. He did make me laugh. Funny man.

2)Diamond Geezer (Mr B to you) is going to pick up my prescription on the way home. Then i can take some nasty drugs and maybe get some bloody pain-free sleep. And stop dreaming about blinking aliens abducting me away from my one true love (Clooney to you).

Toast & Clooney

Things what are making me happy this week:

1)The weather. Rain and all.

2)Toast autumn (autumn - yay) catalogue turned up yesterday. Beautifully shot photographs, gorgeous autumn/winter clothing. (I won't go into my 'i hate summer clothes' rant yet again.).

3)Not to mention that nearly every pair of shoes in the catalogue had me drooling with lust and that also they have some pairs by Chie Mihara who i'd never heard of before. Anyway, she has a new found fan who has been googling furiously to find out more.

4)Best of all and this knocks spots off all of the above. Last night i dreamt that George Clooney snogged me. This was just before i got abducted by aliens and put on another earth dimension but then, you can't have everything.

Bladders, Bowels & Bogs

Saturday we had a toilet emergency, hence the day off. I had to help Mr B do a trillion boring things before the plumber turned up.

Things you don't think about unless you have a toilet emergency:

Q:Can you eat enough toast/down enough coffee to encourage movements in certain areas before the appearance of the plumber?
Q:Now the plumber is late and you still haven't achieved the above, will he be really late, giving you a chance, or will he turn up while you visit the loo?
Q:Now he actually is really late, is it worth the risk seeing as he will probably turn up any minute?

All of these worries are not conducive to having a stress free stomach, which is very unhelpful. Then you realise you shouldn't have partaken of tea just before the water is turned off. And that a 2 hour job that turns into an over 4 hour job is hell on the Bean bladders.

In the end the poor bloke had so much trouble with our ancient bog he had to cement our new one in which meant we had to hover until Sunday morning. At £Ohmygod per half hour, we could have had an entire bathroom fitted for almost the same price. Which has had Mr B in a tiz to say the least and i'm banned from mentioning the toilet at all to prevent apoplexy. On the plus side, it looks nice and most importantly it works.

Day Orf

I'm 'avin a day 'orf tomorrow. Tomorrow's in a minute. Today then. Saturday. Not working. Due to unforseen circumstances. Don't worry, it's got nothing to do with the electric light show earlier on. I will be there on Sunday though if anybody feels a necessary t-shirt purchase coming on.

Shocking

I was meant to be going out tonight but now we've got a plumber coming in the morning and i've got so much stuff to sort out my head's spinning. When i realised i wasn't going to get it all done if i went out i started to get a bit pouty-sulky about it as i went about cleaning the kitchen. As if i wasn't feeling sorry enough for myself i then received two consecutive electric shocks from the kitchen light switch. The first one was a big one and i didn't exactly enjoy the second one either. This was about half an hour ago and my arm still feels funny. The tip of the finger which i touched the switch with is all red and hot still. Bloody hell. This means we have to get an electrician out now too. Today is rubbish. I want my money back.

Sad

It was a year ago this month that our cat passed away. I would have posted a pic of her here but i already did that on flickr and i got a bit upset. Silly me. I miss her very much. I even thought i saw her for a second the other night but it was a bag on the floor. I recently dreamt that she came and visited us every now and again after she died to show us she was okay. I could stroke her, she was real.
I never really told anyone what happened before we had to have her put to sleep. I feel bad about it because I had a strong feeling to go home at lunchtime from work to see if she was okay and I didn't act on it. I may not have been able to prevent her from dying but i may have stopped her from being in pain for so long and could have got her to the vet quicker, been there to comfort her. It was a mixture of an accident and she was weak anyway from being poorly for so long. I could really do with a cup of tea right now.

All change?

Yesterday we went to Watch This Space outside the National Theatre again. This time to watch some men in underpants. It was jolly amusing. Then we used our Time Out 'buy one main meal get another free' offer at Wagamamas. I don't recommend the branch near Leicester Sq. which unfortunately is where we ended up. It's in a small basement. The noise (and there is lots of it. The place was packed.) just bounces off the walls and it's impossible to hold a conversation. I pitied the people having to work in those conditions. Wagamama staff work their asses off people. Treat them nicely. I don't think i've ever eaten in Wagamama's unless it's been with an offer. It's not somewhere i'd choose to eat normally. And i usually opt for one a little less manic, like the one near the Barbican. But that was a bit of a trek from South Bank in the rain.

And now for some important breaking news. I'm thinking of changing the name of my blog. I've been thinking about it for a while. The main reason is none of your business. The second reason is, there are far too many Betty's around at the moment. I don't mean on 20six, i mean generally. I still like my blog name though and i've had it for a really long time. The only other names i can come up with just aren't anywhere near as good.

The other option i've also been thinking about for a while is jumping ship to another blog provider. I'm tired of all this html business. I quite often don't blog because i can't face it/don't have time to piddle about. It seems pointless when, lemme count them, one, two, three...er, with every other blog provider html is not a requirement. Putting on photos is a regular pain in the pants. Upload to computer. Resize. Upload to 20six. Find the flippin' thing in your gallery (hint:try naming everything with an 'A'...). Get your html out. Rubbish. I had hoped 20six would implement some better bits and pieces by now but it all seems to have ground to a halt. Only thing is, i like being in one place with lots of my favourite bloggers. So new name? Or new blog? Or both? What to do, what to do?
